RIGHTS OF A CHILD
Rights of the Child - UNCRC

At Springwood, we are proud to create a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. We have achieved the bronze ‘Rights Respecting school’ and we are now working towards the silver award.

Throughout the school, pupils learn and talk about their rights and are becoming aware of and respecting the rights of others too. Within pupil voice sessions we will generate ideas on ways in which we can implement and embed these rights throughout the school environment and within our inquiries and learning activities.
One way in which we will learn about our rights is through having a ‘Right of the Month’. This will help us to have a greater understanding of each right and what they mean to each child.

For the remainder of October and the month of November, the School Council has chosen to focus on Article 28: The right to an education.

Article 28: every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
