During Autumn term the children have settled wonderfully into Nursery and Reception; they have been making new friends, learning their new school routines and to be independent learners. We have been looking at pattern and sequence for our first inquiry, creating repeating patterns with natural materials, colours and digitally on the iPads.

 

We even went on a pattern hunt around school and took photos of all the different patterns we could find! We have also been following sequences to make our own creations in expressive arts, and sequencing familiar stories.

 

In Talk for Writing, we have been looking at ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ after finding bear footprints in the school woods. We innovated this to write our own story, ‘We’re Going on a Snail Hunt’. Reception have been looking at numbers 0-5 in numeracy. This has included collections of objects to 5, dice patterns, Numicon and Numberblocks.
